Supplier Manager, China
Position Overview
The Supplier Manager is responsible for managing suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable components in China. The role will involve supplier qualification, quality assurance, Factory Acceptance Test attendance, strategic sourcing, and supplier development.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in supplier quality and sourcing, good electrical know-how, and exposure to manufacturing processes. Experience in the marine sector and mechanical engineering knowledge will be considered strong advantages.
Main Responsibilities
· Evaluate, qualify, and monitor suppliers in line with company quality standards.
· Support supplier audits and attend to Factory Acceptance Tests.
· Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
· Manage root cause analysis and problem-solving for supplier-related issues, mitigate risks in the supplier base.
· Follow market trends to identify new suppliers, technologies, and cost-saving opportunities in line with company strategy.
· Support supplier negotiations on pricing, contracts, and terms & conditions to secure optimal cost and value.
· Manage supplier relationships to foster collaboration and long-term partnerships.
· Act as a strong link between the organization in China, Europe, and the Suppliers.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
· Additional qualifications in or work experience in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering are an advantage.
Professional Experience
· 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Management, Sourcing, Procurement, or similar roles.
· Strong electrical engineering knowledge, preferably with hands-on experience in component/system manufacturing.
· Proven track record in supplier development, negotiations, and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in the marine industry is a strong plus.
· Experience with mechanical fabrication and welding processes is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
· Knowledge of supplier auditing techniques and quality tools (e.g., 8D, FMEA, DMAIC, six-Sigma).
· Excellence in team working and communication in multicultural environments
· Fluent in Chinese and English (written & spoken)
· Willing to travel
